American 70's and 80's Music Quiz

The Kalico Girls decided our quizzes are far too English and made an American quiz with lyrics from the 70's and 80's. These songs are famous in America and are sure to give your brain a good workout. All you have to do is give the song title and the original artist. This means Mariah Cary is not correct for 'Without You' or Madonna not correct for 'American Pie'.

Jemma's Lyrics Music Quiz

Jemma P has sent us a quiz filled with lyrics of songs she likes. And I bet you like them too. The songs are mostly recent (up to September 2005) with a few golden oldies thrown in for good measure. And her taste is quite diverse too with rock, rap, R&B and some good old pop thrown in the mix. A few artists make multiple appearances and make sure you know your Blazin' Squad from your Blue!

Movie Soundtrack Quiz

This is another quiz we created ourselves. Who does not immediately think of the Blues Brothers movie when hearing 'Everybody Needs Somebody To Love'? Songs are an essential part of movies and sometimes they become more famous than the movie they were featured in.

In this quiz, you get the a song title and have to give the artist and the movie in which the song was used. There are no songs identical to movie titles, so no 'Men in Black'. You get 2 points for identifying the artist or the movie and 5 if you get both right! And as I hate the Titanic song, you will not find that in the quiz.

Mark's Mega Music Crossword

Now this is a different type of quiz. This is actually a crossword where you answer music questions in crossword format. This means you can get letters of the answer by answering the questions surrounding the one you are stuck on!

There are a few smart tricks in this crossword. First of all, the crossword fills itself. All you do is type the answer next to the question, so you don't have to fill each cell separately. Secondly, you can print off a list of all the questions so that you can solve the crossword on the train! Thirdly, the list of questions is automatically updated with the answers you gave in the crossword.

All in all, this is a stunning piece of work. A preview of the quiz is below:

This is Matt Shaw's original lyrics quiz. He very kindly let us host it. It contains lyrics from well known songs and you have to supply the song title and artist, although in some cases the year of release is asked instead. They are not opening lines or chorus lines, just famous lines. There are 125 lyrics, so you can score 250 points in total.
