On this page you can find pictures of: In the August bank holiday weekend, Janice and myself took the family on a wedding hunt. We needed to find a place to get married (June 11th 2005), have dinner and a wedding party. On Tuesday, the last day, we went to see Frank and Sandra to look at locations in Enkhuizen, a very pretty town on the IJsselmeer. We saw a number of locations to get wed and have a party, of which only the contenders are shown. In the end, we decided to get married in Amsterdam. The day was not wasted though as Frank and Sandra decided on the city hall and Drommedaris for his wedding and party. EnkhuizenAs said, Enkhuizen is a very pretty town. Here you see the Drommedaris and a view over the harbour. Inside the Drommedaris there are two party halls, but the top one does not have wheelchair access and the bottom one is too small. Shame.
City Hall, EnkhuizenThe outside and the inside. Quite good, but not as good as the chapel below.
Het Peperhuis, EnkhuizenThe Zuiderzeemuseum is a museum depicting the life of the old fishing town. It has two party locations, one in the museum and one in the village. This is the one inside the museum. As you can see, it looks authentic.
Het Zuiderzeemuseum, EnkhuizenThe wedding chapel and second party centre are located inside the village that is the Zuiderzeemuseum. It charges for access, but as we were looking to wed there, we got in there free and Janice let her camera do the talking... She made some really nice pictures (thank you!)
Wedding chapel in the ZuiderzeemuseumThis is the wedding chapel in the museum, a 19th century church moved from Den Oever after it fell into disrepair.
Het Amsterdamse Huis, EnkhuizenAnd two minutes from the chapel (the picture above is made from the front of the Amsterdamse Huis) is the party centre. As the museum closes at 5 and the wedding would be at 4, we'd have the whole building to ourselves!
This is the dining room. It seats 25 and is an old farm kitchen. Very cosy!
