On this page you can find pictures of: The French Quarter is the historic center of New Orleans. In the beginning of the last century, it was the center of sex and booze. Those days have long since gone, but the character of the French Quarter has remained. Low buildings and lots of bars:
The Mississippi flows through New Orleans. The cotton industry made the city great. The civil war meant the end of prosperity. The location at the Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi still makes New Orleans a great center. And the trademark boat is of course a must see:

This is a real-life alligator of about 5 feet. It was lying sunning and dove off as soon as we came too close. The people tried to bring it out, but only got bitten (really!):
