On this page you can find pictures of: It is the end of October and finally the ultimate tourist attraction. It is closed now, but planned to reopen soon after the WTC attacks. I went to see it with a friend from the 'Small Island':
At the Statue there are two viewing platforms. The first is at the top of the mantelpiece. From there you have an excellent view on the south point of Manhattan:
You can go all the way to the crown of the Statue. You have to stand in line for about 90 minutes and slowly move in a line along stairs, stairs and stairs. As you can tell, not my idea of fun, but I was not the guest. So we finally came to the viewing platform where we had our picture taken. And 10 seconds later we were off the platform again.
You visit the Statue by ferry. This is the first view you get of the 'lady' when coming on land:
We did not have time to visit Ellis Island as well. This is the place where all immigrants first landed on American soil and where their fate was decided. In the background you can see New Jersey; Jersey City and Hoboken.
