Phew. I have not updated the site in a month, except for some additions to the guestbook maybe. But that does not mean I have been slacking.
I have been selecting the pictures for the Hong Kong wedding and making them into a nice little picture story. So here are 9 pages on the wedding banquet we had in Hong Kong (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9). Here is the overview page.
I also removed the link to the Amsterdam wedding information as no one cares how to get to the Molen van Sloten anymore. I did not remove the details, just the link. Like keeping a plant but deliberately not watering it.

Over the last few months I have been a bit busy with my new job, marriage preparations, the new quiz site (not ready yet) and have not done much on the site. Well, here is a new quiz from the Gav & Arno stable to keep people happy. The Acronym Quiz is available in Excel and OpenOffice format.
I also amended the way the guestbook works as I am getting sick of guestbook spam. So from now on, guestbook entries have to be validated by me before they appear on the site.
If I do get the time I will also add a few more pictures from Hong Kong or Amsterdam we took over the last few months. But no promises

After a week's work, I have finally applied CSS and external javascript to all English pages of the site. That was a LOT more work than I expeced. Especially the quiz pages were quite difficult to do. Let me know if anything does not work (I fear for the messages and the guestbook).
On the plus side, the site is easier to maintain, should load quicker and be more consistent.
I also added a new quiz by Matt Shaw, the UK Adverts Quiz whilst I was at it.

Today I have started updating the site using CSS and javascript. I use Microsoft Frontpage, which creates a lot of messy code. As I have been learning how to use CSS and javascript (and a bit of DHTML too) I decided to clean up the code on the site. This will slowly be integrated into the whole site. You can recognise the pages that use CSS and javascript by the bookmark navigation being black instead of blue. And by the page loading quicker.

I split up the guestbook into two parts as it was getting too large and was affecting performance.
Then I read in an article that search engines don't crawl further down than one or two links from the home page. As mine simply pointed to the Dutch and English home page, this was not good news. So I added all categories onto the front page.
I also added a new 'Football Derby' quiz and changed all our quizzes so that they print correctly.

Due to bandwidth restrictions on my account, I have created a subdomain of files.arnodewever.com which holds all quizzes I got sent.
This subdomain is hosted on a separate server, which is in America, rather than in the UK. Of course this meant I had to make some changes to the
structure of my site.

Today I have changed the quizzes to make sure Google picks up the clues and can index them. Also, I changed the contact email address and added a troubleshooting feature to the quiz page. This to accommodate people who cannot use password protected Excel spreadsheets.

I have fixed a few small problems with the quiz and added a hit counter onto the quiz page. In April alone up to the 18th, there were over 4,000 hits, so it makes sense now to have one. That is also the reason I have had to upgrade my hosting plan.
I put pictures up of our trip to New York in 2002 in both Dutch and English.
Finally, I added the 
symbol to anything that has been changed or added.

This is the first entry into the change log. I have finished updating the site and the log will now be updated. Over the last two weeks, the whole site has been reviewed and redesigned. All aspects of the site are now available and in working order.
